Probably the most exciting thing I did last week was make cheese. My Ukrainian co-worker taught me how to buy a carton of buttermilk, put it in a pot of water and boil it for 5 minutes, then let it cool over night. The next morning you pour the contents of the carton into a cheesecloth and let it drain all day, preserving the liquid which can be used in crepe batter. The result is similar to ricotta — bland, spreadable, and spongey. But good mixed with raw garlic, a little salt, dill, or whatever else you want to try!
